SEC BUZZ

THE SCOOP

Florida junior quarterback Jeff Driskel bruised more than just his pride during Saturday’s devastating loss to Miami. The Palm Beach Post reported that Driskel was seen on the Gainesville campus using crutches Sunday, prompting the Gators to issue a statement regarding his health. A spokesman for the football program said Driskel sustained a “slight sprain” in his knee and is “taking some weight off of it” during the team’s bye week. He is expected to be ready to play in UF’s next game on Sept. 21 against Tennessee. Driskel was injured in the second quarter against Miami but stayed in the game.

The Gators will go into the Tennessee game with question marks on the offensive line. Center Jonotthan Harrison and left guard Max Garcia left the Miami game with injuries but are expected back to face the Vols. Linemates Tyler Moore (ankle) and D.J. Humphries (knee), however, may not be able to play.

JOHNNY CAM

If you want to study formations and get a coach’s perspective on SEC games, not to mention following every move by Johnny Manziel, you can beginning Saturday with the Alabama-Texas A&M game at 3:30 p.m.

CBS Sports’ live stream on CBSSports.com will feature what is known as the All 22 camera angle in complement to the game broadcast, allowing fans to see a full-field view in addition to the main camera view. Another of those angles will be all Johnny, all the time.

“No matter where (Manziel) is and no matter what part of the game it is, we will have a shot of it,” said Craig Silver, coordinating producer of college football for CBS Sports. “If he is anywhere in sight of that camera, we will catch it.”

ARKANSAS WARNING

Coach Bret Bielema was emphatic about avoiding penalties after two personal fouls were called on the Razorbacks last Saturday. “Two of them were inexcusable. Alex Collins will not do that again,” Bielema said. “If he does, he will not be here and playing with us.” Collins, a freshman back, has rushed for 131 yards and 172 yards in his first two college games. But he drew an unsportsmanlike conduct flag when he ran to the north end zone stands and imitated a Lambeau Leap after a 2-yard touchdown run, his first collegiate score, that put the game away with 2:28 to play.

LSU GROWTH

LSU quarterback Zach Mettenberger, who averaged 200 passing yards per game a season ago, is at 267 yards per game this season and also had a school single-game record of five touchdown passes in Saturday’s demolition of UAB. “We’re feeling it,” he said. “Receivers were feeling where the spaces were. … It really makes your job easy when your line gives you all that time and those guys out wide can make every catch.”
