Even former NFC West rival Richard Sherman thinks free-agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick should have a job in the NFL.

In a video titled “Out of Context” posted by the Players’ Tribune on Thursday, Sherman discussed the Kaepernick situation and the Seattle Seahawks’ loss to the Green Bay Packers Sunday.

The Seahawks cornerback said with his team facing the 49ers on Sunday, it's natural to receive questions about Kaepernick and whether he deserves to be on an NFL roster.

"Of course he deserves a job," Sherman said. "You saw the quarterback play throughout the league and it was terrible. What happened to Indianapolis (in Week 1), you saying they can't use Kaepernick? You know, that's crazy talk. But it's unfortunate that a man is unemployed right now who's a pretty good ball player, won his fair share of ball games and there are lesser-talented guys employed because they didn't stand up for a cause.

"Sometimes it's not about winning or losing. It's about making a statement."

Kaepernick opted out of his contract with the 49ers in March after a season filled with national anthem protests that spoke out against to police brutality.

The Seahawks host the  49ers at 4:25 p.m. at CenturyLink Field.
