Running back Adrain Peterson is out with the New Orleans Saints after only four games.

Peterson was traded to the Arizona Cardinals for a conditional draft pick on Tuesday, according to ESPN’s Dianna Russini.

The Cardinals have three running backs remaining on their active roster in Kerwynn Williams, Andrew Ellington and Elijaa Penny after the team announced it released Chris Johnson on Tuesday afternoon after the Peterson trade.

Peterson recorded 81 rushing yards on 27 carries in his first season with the Saints.

In September of his final season with the Minnesota Vikings, Peterson suffered a season-ending knee injury in the third game of the season.

In 10 years with the Vikings, Peterson racked up 11,717 rushing yards and 97 rushing touchdowns.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported what pushed the Saints to trade Peterson was the success of rookie running back Alvin Kamara out of Tennessee.

In four games, Kamara 83 yards and one touchdown on 15 carries.

Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson reacted to the news of gaining Peterson on Twitter.
