Falcons' Matt Ryan has the look of intensity as he enters the tunnel to take the field with Steven Jackson and his teammates to play the Saints in their NFL football game on Sunday, Sept. 7, 2014, in Atlanta.

Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan tossed three touchdown pass to break the team-record held by Steve Bartkowski against the Saints on Sunday at the Georgia Dome.

Ryan entered the game with 153 touchdown passes, one behind Bartkowski. He now has 156 career touchdown passes.

“It’s a great honor,” Ryan said. “No one has more respect for Steve Bartkowski than I do and what he did for this organization. He’s become a great friend since I’ve been here in Atlanta and a great mentor. I’m very proud to be in good company. It’s really a great honor.”

With the Falcons down 13-0, Ryan tossed a nice back-shoulder throw to Roddy White for a 2-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter. The play capped a 10-play, 80-yard drive.

On their first possession of the third quarter, Ryan threw a 1-yard touchdown pass to tight end Levine Toilolo to break the record.

He added a 54-yard touchdown pass to running back Antone Smith in the third quarter.

Ryan, 29, is in his seventh season with the Falcons.

Bartkowski played for the Falcons from 1975 to 85.
