College running back Washaun Ealey will miss week two of the season following his arrest Wednesday morning on drug charges.

Ealey, 23, faces two misdemeanor charges after his arrest by Jacksonville State University police, The Anniston Star reported online. He was arrested at 7:24 a.m. after campus police searched his apartment following a noise complaint, the newspaper reported.

“This is a violation of team policy,” JSU athletic director Warren Koegel told the newspaper. “He’s suspended for this game against Chattanooga, and we’re going through the proper channels according to the policy.”

A spokesman for the JSU police department told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Ealey’s arrest report was unavailable Wednesday afternoon.

Now a senior, Ealey led UGA in rushing during the 2009 and ‘10 seasons, but was released from the program in May 2011. After transferring to JSU, Ealey rushed for 1,082 yards on 178 carries and was second for the Gamecocks with nine touchdowns.

Ealey injured his right knee early in Saturday’s season-opening loss at Arkansas and was held to nine yards.

The Stillmore native holds the Georgia high school football record for the most rushing touchdowns in a season, with 58 scored in 2007 while playing for Emanuel County Institute.
