The San Antonio Spurs will trade veteran forward Kawhi Leonard to the Toronto Raptors in exchange for a trade package including All-Star forward DeMar DeRozan, according to a report Wednesday by ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
The Spurs are expected to trade Leonard and Danny Green to the Raptors for DeRozan, Jakob Poeltl and a protected 2019 first-round pick, Wojnarowski reported.
Wojnarowski reported a trade call to the NBA office is expected sometime Wednesday to finalize the deal.
Leonard has not commented on the trade, but ESPN's Chris B. Haynes reported early Wednesday Leonard had "no desire" to play with the Raptors.
While Leonard remained silent through the trade talks and the offseason, DeRozan took to social media early Wednesday after being informed he would be traded.
“Be told one thing and the outcome (is) another,” DeRozan wrote on his Instagram story. “Can’t trust (them). Ain’t no loyalty in this game. Sell you out quick for a little bit of nothing… Soon you’ll understand.”
ESPN’s Rachel Nichols posted the photos of DeRozan’s story and referenced a Wojnarowski and Haynes report which said the Raptors told DeRozen last week during summer league that he would not be traded.
