After the conclusion of an internal investigation into the use of burner Twitter accounts that revealed team secrets and spoke harshly of players, the Philadelphia 76ers and general manager Bryan Colangelo have agreed to part ways, according to a report Thursday by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Wojnarowski reported 76ers assistant coach Brett Brown will take over basketball operations for the time being.

Colangelo's departure, which will be referred to as a “resignation” according to Wojnarowski, comes after The Ringer discovered several anonymous Twitter accounts that posted unprofessional comments regarding players like Joel Embiid and Jahlil Okafor.

The 76ers are expected to hold a press conference Thursday afternoon to announce the news.

Sports Business Journal’s Eric Fisher reported Thursday initial evidence from internal team investigation revealed Colangelo's wife created the burner Twitter accounts and posted about players and the organization.

Fisher reported Colangelo’s wife admitted to the accusations.
