Recapping Big Sexy’s first start with the Braves
After three seasons with the New York Mets, pitcher Bartolo Colon was sharp in his Braves’ debut Wednesday against his former team at Citi Field. The Braves won 3-1 in 12 innings.
Headed into his 20th season, the nearly 44-year-old pitcher has also played for the Indians, Expos, White Sox, Angels, Red Sox, Yankees and Athletics.

Returning to Citi Field for the first time since he signed with the Braves, Colon — or “Big Sexy” to his fans — is still loved in Queens, NY. Colon was received with a round of applause and signs from Mets’ fans during pre-game introductions.

In his first game with Atlanta, Colon allowed one run in six innings. Braves manager Brian Snitker provided his take on Colon’s first start to Fox Sports Southeast.

Colon also had six strikeouts and only one walk.

Colon’s only shortcoming on the night, he went 0-for-2 from the plate with a strikeout in his debut.

But Colon’s lack of success at the plate on Wednesday night isn’t of concern because Colon helped the Braves earn their first win of the season.

The Braves play the Mets in the final game of the Citi Field series on Thursday at 7:10 p.m. The series is tied at one.
