After losing Game 1 on Tuesday night, the Houston Astros took Game 2 of the 2017 World Series in some crazy extra innings.
The Los Angeles Dodgers looked like they would get the Game 2 win until the ninth inning when Astros left fielder Marwin Gonzalez hit a solo homer and tied the game at 3.
The game was sent into extra innings and that’s when things got wild.
In the top of the 10th, the Astros hit back-to-back solo homers. Astros second baseman Jose Altuve hit a solo shot to center field followed by infielder Carlos Correa into left center, giving the Astros a 5-3 lead.
The Dodgers responded.
Outfielder Yasiel Puig hit a solo homerun to left field in the bottom of the 10th which at the crack of the bat brought the crowd at Dodger Stadium to their feet.
Astros led, 5-4.
The next two batters for the Dodgers struck out swinging and it was infielder Logan Forsythe who walked.
Forsythe stole second on a wold pitch by Astros pitcher Ken Giles while Dodgers' Enrique Hernandez batted. Hernandez singled to right field and Forsythe rounded the bases to slide in at home safe.
Tie game.
In the top of the 11th, outfidelr George Springer hit a two-run homer to right field, scoring Cameron Maybin.
The Astros were back in front, 7-5.
The Dodgers responded with a solo homerun by Charlie Culberson in the bottom of the 11th, but the magic ran out.
Battling through nine pitches, Puig struck out swinging for the Dodgers with a full count, ending the game.
The Astros left Dodger Stadium with a 7-6 win and the series tied 1-1.
The five extra-inning home runs from Game 2 are the most extra-inning home runs in one game in MLB history.
After Game 2, the Los Angeles Dodgers are 98-1 when leading in the eighth this season.
Game 3 of the World Series on Friday at 8:09 p.m. at Houston's Minute Maid Park. The game can be watched on Fox.
