New York City Football Club, one of two teams that will begin play in MLS this year, has purchased Silverbacks player Kwadwo Poku.

Poku, an attacking midfielder, signed with the Silverbacks last year. He scored two goals in 25 appearances.

His size, 6-foot-1, 184 pounds, and technical ability earned him looks from several MLS clubs last year.

He spent the previous three seasons with the Georgia Revolution in the NPSL. He emigrated to the U.S. from Ghana in 2010.

Poku joins a list of former Silverbacks players that have gone on to MLS, a group that recently includes defender Tyler Ruthven, defender Chris Klute, goalkeeper Joe Nasco, forward Matt Horth and others.
