Atlanta United President Darren Eales said on Friday that he would like to see team to host an MLS All-Star game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Eales said he doesn’t know what year he would like to host the game, but it’s something he envisions happening.
Atlanta United will begin play in MLS in 2017.
Atlanta and Mercedes-Benz Stadium will host a college football national championship game, a Super Bowl and Final Four in coming years.
The process for bidding on All-Star games generally begins nearly two years before the match. The decision and subsequent announcment occurs 12 to 16 months before the All-Star match. Multiple MLS markets have submitted a bid packages for the 2017 All-Star Game and a decision should be made soon, according to a league spokeswoman.
