Predicting Atlanta United’s 11 vs. Columbus

Who I think will start for Atlanta United against Columbus

After Wednesday's bizarre 3-2 win over Charleston in the U.S. Open Cup, I think Atlanta United will go back to the same starting lineup it used in last week's game at Chicago for Saturday's game against Columbus at Georgia Tech's Bobby Dodd Stadium.

Because Josef Martinez and Miguel Almiron played 90 minutes against Charleston, I would be surprised if Gerardo Martino elects to start them. I do think they will be in the 18. I can see Almiron coming in for Kevin Kratz, another 90-minuter on Wednesday, and Martinez coming on for … someone, if Atlanta United is losing to Columbus.

Remember, Saturday’s game will be the third in an eight-game stretch in 25 days for the team.

I think Jeff Larentowicz, who also played 90 minutes on Wednesday, will get the start.

The defense, which featured four new starters on the back line, will go back to its typical group that includes Tyrone Mears, Michael Parkhurst, Leandro Gonzalez Pirez and Greg Garza.
