Just three days ago, the Braves had lost four games in a row at home and their lead in the NL East race had dwindled to just a half-game over the Philadelphia Phillies.

Wednesday morning feels a lot better. The Braves have beaten the Pirates twice in Pittsburgh, allowing just one run, and the Phillies lost to the Nationals 10-4 late Tuesday night. Washington traded away two of its best players earlier in the day.

The Phillies' loss and the Braves' wins combine to give Atlanta (70-55) a two-game lead in the East again.

The Braves play the Pirates again Wednesday night at 7:05, seeking to sweep the series before heading to Miami to play the Marlins four times. The Phillies (68-57) play the Nats twice more in Washington before beginning a three-game road series against the Blue Jays Friday.
