Panthers place Newton on IR, will miss remainder of season

The Carolina Panthers placed quarterback Cam Newton on season-ending injured reserve Tuesday with a nagging foot injury.
Newton suffered the injury in the preseason and aggravated it during the second week of the regular season. Newton, the 2015 NFL MVP will miss the final eight games of the season, including two games in a four-week span against the Falcons.
