Blake Bingham made two field goals and a touchdown-saving tackle on a kickoff return in the fourth quarter to help Norcross defeat Mill Creek 27-13 in a key Region 7-AAAAAA game Friday at Blue Devils Stadium.

Bingham’s second field goal put Norcross up 20-13 with seven minutes to play. On the ensuing kickoff, Mill Creek’s DeVozea Felton broke free and was one-on-one with Bingham on the sideline. The kicker made the play, and the Blue Devils’ defense did the rest.

Jaquan Frazier and Jean-Baptiste Kouassi each had drive-killing sacks in the fourth quarter, and Ridwan Issahaku sealed the win with an interception on Mill Creek’s final drive. The Blue Devils shut out the Hawks in the second half.

Norcross has won all eight meetings with Mill Creek.

Josh Boyd had a 59-yard touchdown run, and A.J. Bush threw for a touchdown and ran for another to lift the Blue Devils (3-2, 2-1 7-AAAAAA) to their second consecutive victory. Boyd led Norcross with 110 yards rushing.

Mill Creek (3-2, 1-2 Region 7-AAAAAA) has lost two in a row and heads into the second half of the season in need of a strong finish to secure a playoff berth for the second straight season.

Five teams — North Gwinnett, Peachtree Ridge, Collins Hill, Mill Creek and Norcross — appear to be battling for the four playoff spots in the top-heavy region. North Gwinnett, Peachtree Ridge and Collins Hill are unbeaten in 7-AAAAAA.

Mill Creek’s Andrew Sciara rushed for a touchdown and recovered a fumble in the first half. Sciara’s 1-yard run on fourth-and-goal tied the score with six minutes left in the half. He recovered a fumble on Norcross’ next possession, leading to Bryson King’s chip-shot field goal to put the Hawks ahead 13-10 at halftime.

Bingham kicked field goals of 41 and 33 yards. Christopher Herndon caught a 16-yard touchdown from Bush in the first half.

King made two field goals for Mill Creek.
