Gainesville native and Houston Texans rookie quarterback Deshaun Watson completed 17 passes for 225 yards and three touchdowns Sunday against the Browns.

NFL Monday QB analysts discussed the rookie’s start this season. Deshaun Watson arrived Sunday in a throwback Warren Moon jersey.

The former Houston Oilers quarterback said the rookie’s success reminds him of another former NFL quarterback.

“The only guy I can remember having a better start as a rookie is maybe Dan Marino,” Moon said. “He’s doing all of the things that you want a quarterback to do, but he is doing it as a rookie. It’s very, very impressive for him to be doing this, this early in his career.”

NFL Monday QB analyst Steve Beuerlein noticed how the rookie quarterback challenged the Browns’ defense on Sunday.

“He challenges the defense. He’s not taking the quick, easy completions,” Beuerlein said during the show. “He’s pushing the ball up the field, making great throws… He’s playing phenomenal.”
