My weekly MLS Power Poll is out. As with player ratings, this is just meant to start conversation and not to be taken too seriously. Because there were only three games last week, there aren’t a lot changes to the rankings.
Here we go:
1. Dallas (2-0-1)
Last week: 1.
Result: No game.
Leaving them right here for now.
Next game: Off this week.
-
2. Portland (3-1-0)
Last week: 2.
Result: Lost to Columbus 3-2.
You knew they would lose a game, but to Columbus? I’m not dropping them because they still seem like the second-best team in MLS.
Next game: vs. New England, 9 p.m., Saturday, ESPN2.
-
3. New York Red Bulls (2-1-1)
Last week: 3.
Result: 0-0 tie with Real Salt Lake.
The Red Bulls remain tied atop the Eastern Conference but more and more questions about the offense should be asked.
Next game: at Houston, 8:30 p.m., Saturday, MLS Live.
-
4. Atlanta United (2-1-0)
Last week: 4.
Result: No game.
Should Josef Martinez miss a game because of the injury he picked up while with Venezuela, it will be interesting to see how the team copes.
Next game: at Seattle, 10 p.m., Friday, FS1.
-
5. Houston (2-1-0)
Last week: 5.
Result: No game.
Leaving them here for now.
Next game: vs. New York Red Bulls, 8:30 p.m. Saturday, MLS Live.
-
6. San Jose (2-1-0).
Last week: 6.
Result: No game.
Leaving them here for now.
Next game: at NYCFC, 2 p.m. Saturday, MLS Live.
-
7. NYCFC (1-1-1)
Last week: 7.
Result: No game.
Leaving them here for now.
Next game: vs. San Jose, 2 p.m. Saturday, MLS Live.
-
8. Toronto (1-0-2)

Would love to see Michael Bradley play more vertically for Toronto like he did for the U.S. men’s national team against Honduras.
Next game: vs. Sporting KC on Friday, FS1.

Last week: 9.

Clint Dempsey is all my all-time favorite U.S. soccer player, so it was fun to watch him light up Honduras last week.
Next game: vs. Atlanta United, 10 p.m. Friday, FS1.
-
11. Colorado (1-1-1)
Last week: 11.
Result: No game.

-
14. Columbus (2-1-1)
Last week: 17.
Result: 3-2 win over Portland.
Back-to-back wins for the Crew is a good sign for a team that I think will do some damage in the Eastern Conference.
Next game: vs. Orlando, 4 p.m. Saturday, UniMas.
-
15. Sporting KC (1-0-2)
Last week: 14.
Result: No game.
Leaving them here for now.

-
16. Philadelphia (0-1-2)
Last week: 15.
Result: No game.
Leaving them here for now.
Next game: at D.C. United, 7 p.m., Saturday, MLS Live.
-
17. New England (1-2-0)
Last week: 20.
Result: 5-2 win over Minnesota United.
The Revs, needing their first win, played the team that’s good for what ails you.
Next game: at Portland, 9 p.m., Sunday, ESPN2.
-
18. Vancouver (0-2-1)
Last week: 16.
Result: No game.
Not much to say about them this week.

-
19. Real Salt Lake (0-2-2)

This offense might be the worst in MLS with just one goal in four games.

Last week: 19.
Result: No game.

-
22. Minnesota United (0-3-1)
Last week: 22.
Result: 5-2 loss to New England.
In three of their four games, the Loons have allowed at least five goals.
