The three-pointed star and script of “Mercedes-Benz Stadium” glowed for the first time on Thursday morning in an inaugural lighting ceremony.

Mercedes-Benz USA vice president of marketing Drew Slaven received the honor of flipping the switch on Thursday morning.

“We wanted to make a bold statement, that we intended to be a visible and valuable member of the Atlanta community,” Slaven said. “As for the visible part, I think we checked that box today. As to valuable, I hope our commitment to the Westside community is evident in the work we’ve been doing to educate and empower the next generation.”
