Two short notes about soccer in Atlanta on Friday:

Atlanta United officially announced on Friday that it has declined the option on midfielder Junior Burgos. Burgos was included two days ago on the list of players available for Thursday’s MLS waiver draft. No one on that list was signed.

The former Silverback signed with Atlanta United in February and was loaned to Tampa in the NASL. He rarely played for the Rowdies, making just eight appearances.

Zimmerman: Lawrenceville's Walker Zimmerman is one of the players who will be called up for winter camp by new U.S. men's national team manager Bruce Arena. The camp will be held in January in Carson, Calif., which is also where the MLS combine will be held.

Zimmerman, 23, started 30 games this season and helped Dallas finish with the best record in the Western Conference, as well as win the U.S. Open Cup. His centerback partner, Matt Hedges, will also be called up by Arena.

Zimmerman was drafted by Dallas in 2013 after an outstanding career at Furman, where he scored 11 goals in two seasons.
