Atlanta United goalkeeper Alec Kann is out 6-8 weeks after suffering a quad injury in last week’s 2-0 win at Columbus.

He wasn’t seen getting off the team bus with the rest of the players ahead of Tuesday’s game against San Jose.

Kann has started all 20 of the team’s games this season across all competitions.

Kann said he felt a tweak in the second half of the win against the Crew. Centerhalf Leandro Gonzalez Pirez took the final goal kick instead of Kann.

Kyle Reynish got the start against San Jose. Reynish, 33, has nine appearances and eight starts in an MLS career that started in 2007.

Brad Guzan, whose signing was announced in January, can’t play for the team until the secondary transfer window opens next week. Even when that happens, Guzan is with the U.S. men’s national team preparing for the Gold Cup. Should the U.S. advance to the final of the tournament, Guzan likely wouldn’t join the team until late July-early August.

Kann has faced 83 shots, making 56 saves. He has a goals-against average of 1.39. This is his first full season as a starter in MLS. The Decatur native was previously a reserve for Chicago and Sporting KC. The 26-year-old was acquired by Atlanta United in the expansion draft.
