Atlanta Falcons and former Alabama wide receiver Julio Jones missed the Crimson Tide's epic comeback win in the national title game because he was sleeping, according to AL.com.

Jones told reporters on Tuesday -- while holding a press conference to announce his ownership stake in a Tuscaloosa car dealership -- that he needed to get his rest while the Falcons were preparing for their NFC Divisional Round game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

In his answer, he also threw some shade at Georgia, saying he needed sleep so he didn’t perform like a Bulldogs player the next day.

“It's kind of hard to stay up and watch," he said. "I've got to get my proper sleep to go out and perform the way I need to perform. I want to go out and perform for you guys. I can't go out there and put bad stuff [on film]. I am from Alabama. I can't go out there and put out some Georgia,” Jones said.

The Falcons season came to an end with a 15-10 loss to the Eagles later that week.
