Florida had injury issues with both offensive tackles during the loss. Left tackle D.J. Humphries did not come back for the second half after aggravating a sprained medial collateral ligament in his knee. Right tackle Tyler Moore replaced him on the left side and injured his ankle. Moore left the stadium wearing a protective boot.

Florida: From 1938-87, Miami and Florida played every year but one (1943). Then the SEC schedule apparently got in the way. Saturday’s game in Miami was the sixth meeting since 2000 (twice in bowls), but first in five years.

Kentucky: Sophomore QB Maxwell Smith made his first start of the 2013 season. Smith finished with 310 yards on 15-of-23 passing, with three TDs. He is the first Wildcat to throw for 300 yards since he did so with 332 yards against Western Kentucky in 2012.

Missouri: Coach Gary Pinkel beat Toledo, the school at which he’s a Hall of Famer and the career wins leader.

Tennessee: Cam Sutton interception for a TD is from Jonesboro High. Sutton is starting as a freshman. … With 45 points against Austin Peay and 52 against Western Kentucky, Tennessee has scored 97 points in its first two games.

LSU: The benching of running back Jeremy Hill is over, and he was already on the board for the ninth-ranked Tigers. Hill, who was arrested last spring for landing a punch outside a bar, saw his first action in the first series of the second quarter of Saturday night’s game against UAB. After sitting out one game and one quarter, he was in for all of a three-play, 19-yard scoring drive early in the second quarter, which ended with Hill’s 3-yard run through the left side of the line. The touchdown gave LSU, a five-touchdown favorite, a 28-0 lead over UAB. Hill was LSU’s leading rusher last season, with 755 yards and 12 touchdowns.

With the threat of lightning in the area, officials pushed back the kickoff for Saturday night’s game by about 40 minutes to 7:42 p.m. Eastern. There was no rain at the time the decision was made.

Arkansas: The Razorbacks were the only team in the country last week to have two rushers with at least 130 yards and a quarterback throw for more than 200 yards.

Mississippi State: Quarterback Tyler Russell, who suffered a concussion in the Bulldogs’ season-opening loss to Oklahoma State, did not play Saturday. … With the victory, Dan Mullen became the first head coach in program history to win 30 games in his first five seasons.

Doing the unthinkable

Transfers in college football are nothing new, but Corey Grant’s road followed an unusual path between Auburn and Alabama, two of the nation’s most bitter rivals. The running back snubbed Auburn, located near his hometown of Opelika, Ala., to join the Crimson Tide but left after the 2010 season when he realized he wasn’t going to play much with Trent Richardson and Eddie Lacy ahead of him. He switched to Auburn, sat out 2011 and carried the ball just nine times last season before breaking out last week with 146 rushing yards in a win over Washington State. “I just kept pushing and pushing knowing my time would come,” he said.
