How to watch and predicting Atlanta United’s starting 11 vs. Red Bulls

ajc.com

Who will start for Atlanta United (9-7-2) in Sunday’s game against New York Red Bulls (8-7-3) at Mercedes-Benz Stadium? It will be broadcast on FOX at 2 p.m. Kickoff will 2:20-ish.

Manager Frank de Boer will get back striker Josef Martinez, but will be without midfielder Ezequiel Barco (injury), midfielder/striker Hector Villalba (injury) and centerback Leandro Gonzalez Pirez (red card in last game at Chicago), among others.

Here we go:

Goalkeeper Brad Guzan

Right fullback Franco Escobar. Escobar hasn’t been as involved in the offense in recent games. Why? He can’t get too forward because Pity Martinez isn’t going to track back on defense. If both fullbacks get forward, it’s going to spread the defensive midfielders too wide and cause more problems.

Centerback Miles Robinson.

Centerback Flo Pogba, in for Gonzalez Pirez

Left fullback Brek Shea. This is becoming a problematic area for de Boer because he’s not getting any offense from this side.

Defensive midfielder Eric Remedi. I think he is playing too well to take out of the lineup.

Defensive midfielder Darlington Nagbe. .

Wide midfielder Julian Gressel. He’s not going to come out of the lineup.

Wide midfielder Justin Meram. Who will start in place of Dion Pereira.

Attacking midfielder Pity Martinez.

Striker Josef Martinez, who will be back in the lineup for the first time since June 1.
