Adam Clack, who led Milton football to national prominence and a 2018 Class 7A championship, announced his resignation late Thursday via social media. Clack indicated he was pursuing other job opportunities but didn’t specify one.

“I made a commitment to always give this program my 100% undivided attention, energy, and effort; anything else would be unacceptable, but I always knew the day would come when my ultimate career ambitions would lead me to a crossroads,’’ Clack stated on his Twitter account. “It would not be possible to entertain both and effectively serve in the capacity that this program deserves. In my heart, I know that time has come.’’

Milton was 54-12 in Clack’s five seasons, winning region titles each of the past four.

Milton was a state runner-up in 2021, losing to Collins Hill in the final, and played and defeated nationally prominent Life Christian Academy of Virginia and St. Joseph’s Prep of Pennsylvania.

Milton became the first Georgia team to play in California in 2019, when the Eagles played Jserra Catholic.

In 2018, Milton won its first state title with a 14-13 upset victory over Colquitt County.

A native of Winder, Clack for three seasons was head coach at West Forsyth, a program he helped start in 2007. Clack also has been on staffs at Southeast Bulloch and South Forsyth.
