Buford wins the Class 6A state championship

In Class 7A, pre-playoff No. 1 Walton scored a 3-1 championship victory over pre-playoff No. 2 Alpharetta. Lambert fell to Walton in the Elite 8, but swept its two meetings with North Forsyth in the regular season and earned the No. 3 slot ahead of North Forsyth at No. 4. Cherokee rounds out the top 5 and North Cobb finishes the year at No. 6 after falling 3-2 to Alpharetta in the Sweet 16. Etowah, Forsyth Central, Newnan and North Gwinnett also made the final poll.

The top 4 teams in the pre-playoff rankings all advanced to the semifinals and Buford closes out the season at No. 1 after defeating No. 2 Sequoyah in the finals. No. 3 Pope, No. 4 Lassiter and No. 5 Creekview round out the top 5. Johns Creek fell 2-1 in the region tournament and failed to make the playoffs, but still finishes the season at No. 10 after an impressive 2021 resume.

St. Pius topped Greenbrier in the Class 5A finals to close the season out at No. 1. The Wolfpack come in at No. 2 ahead of No. 3 Blessed Trinity, No. 4 Woodward Academy and No. 5 McIntosh. Jackson County and Veterans were not ranked prior to the playoffs, but close the year out at No. 9 and No. 10, respectively.

In Class 4A, state championship Marist sits at the top of the poll and runner-up Flowery Branch finishes at No. 2 after entering the playoffs ranked No. 8. Northwest Whitfield, Fayette County and Jefferson round out the top 5. No. 5 Jefferson fell 3-0 to No. 4 Fayette County in the playoffs and the score for all three sets was 23-25, 23-25, 23-25.

In Class 3A, Greater Atlanta Christian earned No. 1 after defeating No. 2 Sandy Creek in the finals. Oconee County and Cherokee Bluff come in at No. 3 and No. 4 after making runs to the semifinals and LaFayette rounds out the top 5.

State champion Pace Academy, runner-up Gordon Lee, Lovett, Armuchee and Union County comprise the top 5 in Class 2A/A Public and Mt. Paran closes out A Private at No. 1 after defeating Athens Academy in the finals. The Eagles also scored a 3-2 win over No. 4 Brookstone in the quarterfinals and a 3-1 win over No. 3 ELCA in the semifinals.
