The Buford Wolves softball team solidified its top ranking in Class AAA after Emily Crocker produced a no-hit performance in an 11-0 victory against North Hall on Tuesday. Buford (13-1, 6-0 in Region 7-AAA) also got a home run from Noah Suddereth in the third inning. The only slip for Crocker was a second-inning walk.

Buford’s only loss came against Collins Hill last weekend. Three consecutive doubles by Calli Star, Aeshia Miles and Tyra Holliday led Collins Hill to a five-run first inning. Amanda Chance earned the complete-game victory. Collins Hill is the top-ranked team in AAAAAA.

More softball: Heritage-Conyers, ranked No. 3 in Class AAAAA and undefeated in Region 8-AAAAA, posted an easy 14-0 victory against visiting Gainesville on Saturday. Pitcher Kierra Camp went the distance for the Patriots and drove in three runs. … The No. 3-ranked team in AAAAAA, the Kennesaw Mountain Mustangs, continue to roll with a 14-1 record (4-0 in Region 4-AAAAAA). Kathryn Woody continues to be the workhorse for Kennesaw Mountain. She pitched a complete-game 7-3 victory at home last week against Marietta. … Allatoona remains unbeaten in Region 5-AAAAA with a 5-0 region record. Allatoona pitchers have allowed just two runs against teams from the region.

Cross country: South Forsyth used four top-10 finishes to win the North Gwinnett Technical College Mountain Invitational Saturday. Ryan Peppenhorst edged White County's Austin Thomson by a second for first overall. … Flowery Branch took first at The Coach Benson Double Dip Classic, but Marist's Michael Thurston ran an impressive 16:19 and edged Walton's Kenan Farmer for first in the individual standings. … All seven Brookwood runners finished inside the top 16 at the Covered Bridge Run on Saturday, and the Broncos topped Etowah, Roswell, Milton and Cherokee for first overall. … Perry slipped by Westover for first overall in the 14th Annual Warner Robins Invitational, which played host to 24 schools. Perry's Jackson Reid and John Weaks posted first- and second-place finishes, with Jackson finishing nearly 40 seconds ahead of the pace. … North Hall dominated the West Hall Invitational, which featured 20 teams. Junior Bryce Schuebert placed first, and teammates Quintin Miles, Zack Hill and Seth Chapman made it a Trojans sweep of the four fastest times.

Volleyball: In area play Tuesday, No. 1 Walton swept Cherokee and Roswell, Etowah swept its tri-match with Marietta and Lassiter and No. 2 South Forsyth used three sets to top Lambert and took straight sets against West Forsyth. Senior Kelly McCravy has tallied 562 assists in South Forsyth's 58 sets, and junior Taylor Svehla has 192 kills and 30 aces. … Class A No. 6 Mount Paran defeated Hillgrove (25-10, 25-21) and Kennesaw Mountain (25-10, 21-25, 25-13). Mount Paran had nine aces against Hillgrove. Melissa Morris had 11 aces. … Class A No. 4 Walker was led by Brooke Warner, who recorded 24 kills in the Wolverines' sweep of Gordon Lee and North Cobb Christian. … Class AAAA No. 6 Heritage-Catoosa went 6-0 during the weekend by defeating Murray County, Christian Heritage, Ringgold, North Murray, Northwest Whitfield and Ridgeland. It also defeated Dalton 2-0. … Blessed Trinity, No. 1 in Class AAA, fell to an in-state opponent for the first time this season, a 2-1 loss to South Forsyth.
