Update: The Hawks officially announced the signing of James Nunnally Saturday afternoon. According to the team release, Nunnally will wear No. 2.

The Hawks will sign James Nunnally to a 10-day contract Saturday, according to a person familar with the situation.

The 6-foot-7 small forward, who has been playing for the Hawks’ NBA Development League team in Bakersfield (Calif.), will join the team in time for Saturday’s late afternoon practice and the flight to Memphis for Sunday’s game against the Grizzlies.

Nunnally did not play for the Bakersfield Jam in Friday night’s home loss to the Reno Bighorns.

Nunnally was named to the NBA D-League Showcase First Team Friday after the recently completed event held in Reno, Nevada. He was one of 15 prospects named to first, second and third teams by a panel of NBA scouts and D-League personnel from the five-day, 17-game event.

Nunnally, who played collegiately at UC Santa Barbara, averaged 18.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4.0 assists in 19 games for the Jam this season. In the D-League Showcase he had 20 points, four assists and three rebounds in a win over Sioux Falls Sunday. He also had 19 points, six assists and nine rebounds in a loss to Iowa Tuesday.

Nunnally appeared in three exhibition games with the Suns prior to being released in training camp. He replaces forward Cartier Martin who was waived Wednesday before his contract became guaranteed.
