Ahead of the Boston Celtics’ home opener on Wednesday night, the team showed a message from injured forward Gordon Hayward.

Less than 24 hours before the Celtics' home opener, Hayward suffered a serious lower leg injury against the Cleveland Cavaliers which ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports is most likely season-ending.

Hayward thanked fans and teammates for their kind messages and prayers and said he regretted not being at opening night at Boston’s TD Garden.

"I wanted nothing more than to be with my teammates and walk out on that floor tonight, but I'll be supporting you guys from here and wishing you the best of luck," Hayward said.

The Celtics (0-2) lost their home opener to the Milwaukee Bucks 108-100 on Wednesday night.

The Celtics next game is on Friday at the Philadelphia 76ers.
