Out with the crystal.

In with the Calamity Jane.

The Tour Championship announced Wednesday that it will add to an already strong connection with Bobby Jones and East Lake Golf Club by making the Calamity Jane the official trophy of the tournament.

Bobby Jones used his Calamity Jane putter for much of his career, including when he won the Grand Slam in 1930. Jones received the original in 1920 and used it and a copy in his 13 major championships. In 1925 a fire ravaged through the East Lake clubhouse. All of Jones’ clubs were destroyed except for Calamity Jane.

The winner of the Tour Championship, the final event of the PGA Tour’s FedEx Cup playoffs, has received a replica of Calamity Jane as a gift since 2005 along with a crystal trophy.

Bill Haas, winner of the 2011 Tour Championship, keeps his version of the putter in his home office.

“It makes my Calamity Jane trophy that much cooler,” Haas said in a statement. “Look, I’m not greedy. I’ll appreciate any trophy I win. But (the Calamity Jane) has great history behind it that makes it special.”

Here is a video of past champions putting with the replica Calamity Jane and talking about what it meant to win it from the PGA Tour:

The Tour Championship will be held Sept. 18-24.
