The rain has finally given way to sunshine here at Augusta National. But there are some clouds forming over a few players games as the groups with early-morning tee-times made the turn to the back nine.

Notably, two-time Masters champion Ben Crenshaw is headed toward another missed cut. The 61-year-old Texan, playing youngsters Tianlang Guan (14) and Matteo Manassero (19) shot 43 on the front 9, including a quadruple-bogey 7 on the par-3 fourth hole. Together with his first-round 80, that meant he made the turn at 14-over-par. Guan and Manessero were 3- and 4-over, respectively.

However, patrons had no way of knowing exactly how poorly Crenshaw was doing. As is a Masters tradition, the scoreboards on each hole did not post Crenshaw’s score.

The wet conditions from Friday’s mid-morning showers put a damper on scoring for morning tee-offs. Nick Watney and Paul Lawrie were among the very few to prosper, both going out in 2-under-par. Otherwise, the morning average on the front-nine score was 37.79, more than a full stroke ahead of yesterday’s pace (36.57).
