Three-time champ Phil Mickelson is danger of missing the cut at the Masters for just the second time in his career.
Mickelson is 7 over and needs to go 3 under over the last six holes to have a chance of making it to the weekend.
Mickleson is in trouble because of a triple bogey on the par-3 12th hole, one that in his 83-round Masters career he has played close to par (3.15 stroke average).
His tee shot landed in the bunker in front of the hole. He blasted out over the green and into the back bunker. That blast rolled back into the front bunker.
His shot out rolled across the green, stopping just before the second cut.
His putt for double bogey stopped just short of the hole.
It was his second triple bogey this week, the first coming on the seventh hole on Thursday. He had never scored higher than a double bogey on 12.
Mickelson followed his bunker drama by pushing his tee shot left into the azaleas on No. 13.
