On Masters' first day, it was all about the shoes

The golf course and fashions go hand in hand. It's no different at the Masters, where in past years the lush greens of Augusta National have been equal to a Paris runway.

The biggest statements Thursday were the shoes. And the internet noticed.

Rickie Fowler has always been a trendsetter on the course, but his Puma hightops were ridiculously sharp.

Ian Poulter traded his Pumas for a colorful pair of FootJoys.

Rafa Cabrera Bello of Spain sported some bright spikes.

Ireland's Rory McIlroy paid tribute to fellow Nike wearer Kobe Bryant with a pair of  black and gold-trimmed kicks. The "4/13" written on the side of the shoes, by the way is the date of Kobe's final game in the NBA.

Perhaps the coolest kicks on the course belonged to Keegan Bradley, who returned to Augusta after finishing 22nd last year with a message.

The Vermont-native rocked the first round with a pair of Air Jordan shoes stamped with a "45" stamped on the side. Point of reference, 45 was Michael Jordan's number when he returned to the NBA after his brief retirement in 1995.

A message to others on the course? He finished his first round 2-over, 8 shots behind the leader Jordan Spieth.
