A closer look at four newsmakers from Day 2 of the 80th Masters at Augusta National Golf Club:
BUBBA WATSON
75-150, 57th
Highlight: The two-time champ (2012, 2014) played his final six holes in 2 under, and it kept him from missing his first-ever Masters cut in eight appearances when leader Jordan Spieth backed up to 4 under.
Lowlight: As is often the case, Watson was curt when discussing his round that included six bogeys that followed an opening round with six bogeys and a double.
He said it: "Very disappointing. Got to wait a year to attack it again. The golf course beat me this year and so I just got to improve. … I hit the ball well, just didn't get the kicks or the bounces that I needed to."
TOM WATSON
Score 78-152, T63
Highlight: He birdied the par-3 sixth and got a warm reception at every hole in his final Augusta National round.
Lowlight: In his 43rd and final Masters, he never made anything positive happen, collecting bogeys at 1, 4, 5, 9, 10, 11, 14.
He said it: "When I was a little kid I used to watch the Masters on TV. I'm lucky to be able to play in it. It's just one of those dreams that came true for me."
IAN WOOSNAM
Score 81, 88th
Highlight: He yanked his tee shot on the 18th so far left, it flew into a cluster of concession stands, clanged off an ice machine and bounced toward No. 8. He took relief and got a relatively clear shot back to the fairway, punched back to the fairway, hit his next shot to 8 feet and finished with a par.
Lowlight: He shot back-to-back rounds of 82 and 81, and the 1991 Masters champion said he won't return as a player because of pain caused by an inflammatory disease that causes him to hunch forward.
He said it: "I'm in pain all the way around, so it's time to say 'bye-bye,' really. I didn't want to finish off playing like that but you can only do your best. And I've got a green jacket, anyway."
DAVIS LOVE III
73-146, T23
Highlight: The Ryder Cup captain birdied Nos. 3-4-5 to get on the leaderboard. And he did make the cut at age 51.
Lowlight: Amen Corner snagged him with bogey at 11 and double bogey at 12, and he shot a fat 40 on the back nine.
He said it: "I could have shot a lot better, yes. But I could have shot a lot worse. I hit it over No. 1 two days in a row and two putted from over the green, so I got away a little bit, but I also gave a few away."
