A look at the projected FedEx Cup points standings after Friday’s second round of the Tour Championship.

1. Rory McIlroy: Despite being tied for seventh at 3 under par, McIlroy would claim the FedEx Cup title should Jim Furyk hold his current lead and win the Tour Championship. McIlroy would have a 85-point lead over Furyk.

2. Jim Furyk: He needs more help even if he holds on to win the Tour Championship. Furyk began the event 18th in the points standings and needs McIlroy to finish 12th or worse and Tiger Woods to finish fifth or worse.

3. Tiger Woods: He slipped a spot to third after a 3-over 73 on Friday. He is tied for 12th at 1 under and would need to win or have McIlroy fall further back.

4. Nick Watney: Despite being one of the five who controlled their own fate, Watney's chance is gone. He is last at the Tour Championship at 9 over after rounds of 75 and 74.

5. Phil Mickelson: Although he sits at even par for the Tour Championship, Mickelson is seven strokes behind the leader. He would need a couple of low rounds — and some help from those ahead of him — to win the playoff finale.
