AUGUSTA — Fred Couples, one of golf’s most popular players who will tee off at the 78th Masters on Friday among the leaders after a 1-under 71 in the opening round, has committed to play in the 2nd Greater Gwinnett Championship.
The tournament will be played next Friday through Sunday at TPC Sugarloaf in Duluth. Including Couples and defending champion Bernhard Langer, seven players committed to the Greater Gwinnett Championship are competing in the Masters.
In that group is Miguel Angel Jimenez, who will make a rare Champions Tour start, as he continues to try to play well enough on the regular tours to earn a Ryder Cup slot.
