This year, Kent Bazemore got an up-close look at the Tour Championship.

The Hawks shooting guard and avid golfer attended the opening round of the PGA Tour playoff finale at East Lake Golf Club on Thursday.

It’s an easy guess as to who Bazemore was following closely with an inside-the-ropes pass. That would be Jordan Spieth.

Bazemore and Spieth have contracts with Under Armour. Bazemore met Spieth at last year’s Tour Championship and posed for pictures together.

“This is the greatest sporting event,” Bazemore said.

Spieth was paired with Justin Thomas as the two were the last group in the FedEx Cup playoff, entering Nos. 1 and 2 respectively in the point standings.

Bazemore also got an up-close look at the FedEx Cup trophy. The hardware was a visitor at Bazemore’s charity golf tournament Monday at Dunwoody Country Club. The golf outing along with a Uno Tournament on Friday benefitted Bazemore’s ARMS Foundation.

The Hawks will hold media day to open the 2017-18 season on Monday. That will be followed by a three-day start to training camp at the University of Georgia.
