Augusta National wasn’t kind to the amateurs competing in the first round of the Masters on Thursday.
Gunn Yang, who qualified by winning the U.S. Amateur at Atlanta Athletic Club last summer, posted the highest score, 13-over 85.
Byron Meth, who qualified by winning the U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship, posted the lowest score of the group with a 2 over.
Scott Harvey, a real-estate property manager who qualified by winning the U.S. Mid-Amateur, finished 4 over.
Matias Dominguez, a native of Chile who qualified by winning the inaugural Latin America Amateur Championship, finished 4 over.
Australian Antonio Murdaca, who qualified by winning the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship, finished 6 over.
Bradley Neil, a native of Scotland who qualified by winning the British Amateur Championship, finished 6 over.
Corey Conners, who qualified by finishing second at the U.S. Amateur, finished 8 over.
Of those that make the cut, the amateur with the lowest score will receive a silver cup. The runner-up will receive a silver medal. Twelve past Masters champs first participated in the tournament as amateurs.
