Georgia’s beleaguered secondary has taken another hit.

Shaq Wiggins, a rising sophomore fromwho was in line to start at one of the cornerback positions, decided to transfer, according to an announcement from coach Mark Richt. His decision comes at the end of UGA’s semester.

“Shaq and I have been talking over the last few days, and a fresh start is what he believes is in his best interest,” Richt said. “We respect his decision and certainly wish him nothing but the best.”

Wiggins played in 12 games as a freshman in 2013 and recorded 19 tackles and two interceptions.

Wiggins is at least the fourth one-time member of the secondary who will find himself soon wearing a new uniform. Safety Josh Harvey-Clemons was dimissed for multiple rules violations and will transfer to Louisville, safety Shaquille Fluker announced in December he would transfer and converted linebacker Paris Bostick, who came to Georgia as a safety, has left the program.

The Bulldogs were 60th in the country in pass defense last season, giving up 227.4 yards a game and 18 touchdowns.
