Former Georgia Tech punter Pressley Harvin performed his wizardry again Sunday with a kick for the Pittsburgh Steelers that could not seem to have been improved upon.

In the first quarter of the Steelers’ game against the Ravens, with Pittsburgh on its 35-yard line, Harvin cranked a soaring punt that touched down inside the Ravens’ 5-yard line. The bomb carried more than 60 yards on the fly from the line of scrimmage before it landed and then took a sharp right turn, going out of bounds inside the Baltimore 1. The phenomenal punt elicited roars of approval from the Steelers fans at Heinz Field.

Tech fans were witness to that type of excellence throughout Harvin’s Yellow Jackets career, which culminated in his winning the Ray Guy Award last year as the nation’s top punter. In the CBS broadcast booth, announcers Jim Nantz and Tony Romo gawked at the superior effort.

Nantz: “Oh, is that still in? Inside the pylon? Yes, it is! Oh, that is perfection! Sixty-four yards for Pressley Harvin! My goodness!”

Romo: “I feel like they just threw a touchdown. This place just went crazy!”

While the Ravens, remarkably, drove 99 yards for a touchdown on the ensuing series, Pittsburgh won the AFC North game 20-19. Harvin punted five times, averaging 43.4 yards while netting 41.
