Georgia Tech’s volleyball team won its ninth and 10th consecutive games this week, taking matches against Miami Friday and Florida State on Sunday, both at O’Keefe Gymnasium.
With the two wins, the No. 14 Yellow Jackets improved to 21-3 overall and 12-2 in the ACC, keeping pace with league-leading Louisville (ranked second) and maintaining its tie for second place with Pittsburgh (ranked third). With four matches remaining, Tech now will have a defining eight-day stretch with a Friday match at Louisville and then a home match the following Friday, Nov. 19, against Pitt.
Tech is pursuing its first ACC championship (volleyball titles are earned in regular-season play) since 2002 (the Jackets finished first in the regular season in 2004, when the championship was still awarded in the conference tournament) .
Miami, which was tied with Tech for second place, fell in four sets. In the game, right-side hitter Mariana Brambilla and outside hitter Julia Bergmann led with a combined 42 kills. In the process, Brambilla reached 1,000 digs for her career. She became just the fifth player in team history to record 1,000 digs and 1,000 kills.
Sunday, the Jackets took care of FSU in four sets. The 10-game conference winning streak is Tech’s longest since the 2016 season, coach Michelle Collier’s third.
