The Georgia Tech volleyball team’s pursuit of its first ACC championship since 2002 enters a critical stage this weekend. The Yellow Jackets will play home matches Friday and Sunday against Miami and Florida State, both in the top five in the ACC.

Tech, in a three-way tie for second with Pitt and Miami at 10-2 in league play (19-3 overall), is trying to catch Louisville, undefeated at 11-0. The Seminoles are fifth at 9-3.

The Jackets are ranked 14th in the AVCA poll and ninth in a top 10 assembled by the NCAA tournament selection committee released Oct. 31. Louisville is first in that ranking and Pitt is fourth.

Tech has four games remaining after this weekend, including matchups with Louisville, Pitt and Florida State. The ACC volleyball title is determined by regular-season record, as the conference does not hold a postseason tournament.

The Friday game against Miami (7 p.m.) was nearly sold out as of Friday morning, and Sunday’s game against Florida State (3 p.m.) is sold out to the general public. Both will be broadcast on regional sports networks, including Bally Sports South in Atlanta. Friday will also be senior night for the team’s six seniors.
