Georgia Tech football sells out its bowl game tickets as requests triple from 2023

Georgia Tech sold out its allotment of Birmingham Bowl tickets, the program announced Thursday.

Tech originally was given 3,000 tickets for the Dec. 27 contest against Vanderbilt at Protective Stadium (capacity 47,100). Tech had nearly 9,000 ticket requests ahead of the request deadline at midnight Wednesday and is continuing to work with bowl organizers to fill those requests. Ticket requests will be fulfilled based on Alexander-Tharpe Fund priority points.

The school had three times as many tickets requests during the initial request period for its 2024 bowl game than its 2023 game.

Tech sold out of its allotment for the second consecutive year after doing so for the 2023 Gasparilla Bowl, a game the Yellow Jackets won 30-17 over Central Florida in Tampa, Florida.

Patrons wishing to purchase tickets to the Birmingham Bowl now must go through the game’s official website or through a secondary provider.

The Jackets (7-5) returned to practice this week as they prepare to face the Commodores (6-6). Coach Brent Key’s team last took the field Nov. 29 when it lost 44-42 in eight overtimes to rival Georgia in Athens.

Vandy (6-6) is on a three-game losing streak and is in a bowl game for the first time since 2018. On Tuesday, Vanderbilt announced it had sold out its allotment of Birmingham Bowl tickets as well.
