There will be a Helluva Block Party in and around the Georgia Tech for all home football games on campus this season.

Georgia Tech announced Monday a new pregame entertainment and tailgating initiative that will debut before the Sept. 9 game against South Carolina State. Key details of the new plan:

-North Avenue (from Techwood Drive to Luckie Street) will be shut down six hours before kickoff.

-Tailgating will begin four hours before kickoff, and the area will also include food vendors.

-Football team will proceed through Yellow Jacket Alley 2 1/2 hours before kickoff. Beginning at North Avenue and Techwood Drive, it will be led by the Ramblin’ Wreck and Tech marching band down North Avenue before entering Bobby Dodd Stadium through Gate 1.

-Upon team’s entry into stadium, there will be a pregame concert and pregame show from the Tech marching band.

-The block party will shut down 30 minutes before kickoff.

-North Avenue will be reopened for post-game traffic at the start of the third quarter.

“We couldn’t be more excited to build on the great pregame traditions of Georgia Tech football by bringing them to one of the most vibrant locations of our campus and our city – North Avenue,” Tech director of athletics J Batt said. “Being in the shadow of Bobby Dodd Stadium and Tech Tower, Helluva Block Party will merge the great traditions of our campus with an enhanced pregame atmosphere for fans.

“Additionally, many of our gameday traditions – including Yellow Jacket Alley and Wreckfest – have been previously centered on or near Callaway Plaza on the north end of the stadium. Beginning in 2024, construction on the new Student-Athlete Performance Center will make it unfeasible to continue to hold those events in those locations. By making these two great traditions centerpieces of Helluva Block Party, we can get a jump on that transition.”
