Georgia Tech will be without tight end Dylan Deveney for the remainder of the season after he underwent season-ending surgery, coach Geoff Collins said Tuesday.

After missing the first two games of the season with an injury, Deveney played against Clemson, North Carolina and Pitt, splitting time with Dylan Leonard, then did not play against Duke on Oct. 9.

Given that he has played only three games, he won’t lose a season of eligibility. He will go into the 2022 season with three seasons of eligibility.

“Great player in our program, has been battling some stuff and just wanted to go ahead and have the surgery and get him ready to come back next year at a high level,” Collins said.

With Leonard’s health status uncertain also – he was dressed for the Duke game but did not play – the tight end position has grown thin.
