The transfer portal has delivered another offensive lineman to Georgia Tech.

Alabama offensive lineman Pierce Quick announced his decision Saturday to transfer to Tech. Quick, a four-star prospect out of high school who was ranked the No. 7 offensive tackle in the country in the 2019 class (247Sports Composite), entered the transfer portal at the end of the regular season.

Quick was recruited to Alabama by Tech offensive-line coach Brent Key before his three-year stay with the Crimson Tide. Quick and Key, in fact, both attended the same Alabama high school, Hewitt-Trussville High. However, Key left Alabama to coach the Yellow Jackets offensive line for coach Geoff Collins just as Quick was arriving as an early enrollee.

At Alabama, Quick (listed at 6-foot-5 and 280 pounds) played a total of eight games and a total of 34 snaps in three seasons, including his redshirt season in 2019. He played in one game this season. He has three seasons of eligibility remaining.

Quick’s announcement follows Friday’s announcement from former Clemson offensive tackle Paul Tchio that he was transferring to Tech.
