Imagine had he not been hurt half the game.

Todd Gurley, Georgia’s sophomore tailback, was offensive player of the week after his 154-yard, two-touchdown rushing performance against Clemson this past Saturday. Gurley’s production came on just 12 carries as he was sidelined for much of the first half and part of the second with a strained thigh muscle injury suffered during a 75-yard touchdown run. His per carry average at this point is 12.8 yards.

Gurley was also named the National Running Back of the Week by the College Football Performance Awards. Gurley was named the SEC Freshman of the Week three times last year.

Gurley, a 6-1, 232-pound native of Tarboro, N.C., now has 10 100-yard games in his career. Georgia had 545 total yards in its 38-35 loss the No. 8 Tigers, including 222 rushing.

The Bulldogs (0-1) will need more of the same Saturday. They host South Carolina (1-0) in their SEC opener in Sanford Stadium on Saturday (ESPN, 4:30 p.m.).
