Former University of Georgia defensive tackle Trenton Thompson was released Monday by the Cleveland Browns to make room for the signing of defensive backs Christian Boutte and Jeremiah McKinnon and former Georgia tight end Orson Charles.
Thompson, a former 5-star from Westover High School in Albany, Ga., declared for the 2018 NFL Draft after his junior season at Georgia and was invited to the NFL Scouting Combine, but he went undrafted when the Draft came in April.
Thompson, the first former No. 1 overall prospect to go undrafted, signed a free agent deal with the Browns in May.
In three seasons with the Bulldogs, Thompson recorded 127 tackles, 5.5 sacks and three pass deflections.
