Former Atlanta Falcon Tony Gonzalez will join Fox Sports as a sudio analyst for the 2017 NFL season, Fox Sports President of Production & Executive Producer John Entz announced on Wednesday.
Gonzalez, a 14-time Pro Bowler, will appear on Fox Sports’ pregame show “Fox NFL Kickoff” on Sunday’s at 11 a.m. during the NFL season.
“I can’t wait for this upcoming season to get underway and begin working with the FOX Sports family,” Gonzalez said in a statement released by Fox Sports. “It’s a great opportunity for me to continue sharing my passion for the game while remaining close to home.”
From 2014-2016, Gonzalez served as a studio analyst on CBS's "The NFL Today" as well as a contributor to other NFL programs. Gonzalez left "The NFL Today" in March after three seasons.
During his 17-year career, Gonzalez set the NFL records for most touchdown receptions by a tight end (111) and total receiving yards by a tight end (15,127)— both of which are still NFL records.
Gonzalez played 12 seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs and five seasons with the Falcons before retiring in 2013. Gonzalez holds several Chiefs’ franchise records including seasons with 1,000 receiving yards, receptions in a season, career yards from scrimmage, career receiving yards and career receiving touchdowns.
