ON THE FALCONS BEAT

What Calvin Ridley had to say

Team elected to add an offensive weapon with the 26th overall pick
April 27, 2018

Here’s what Calvin Ridley had to say after getting drafted by the Falcons:

On getting the call from the Atlanta Falcons and how he fits into their offense:
"It was amazing. I'm very, very excited. I'm happy that the Falcons gave me the opportunity to come in. I'm going to prove a lot of people wrong and I'm very excited to be coming in with Julio Jones. I know I'm going to learn a lot from him and become a better player and a better wide receiver. I'm just very, very happy to be in that organization."

On his comment about proving people wrong:
"I'm happy the Falcons selected me, but I could've been picked way before. I'm going to work hard and I'm going to prove everybody wrong who always doubted me. I'm going to make everybody a believer."

On whether he has talked to and worked out with Julio Jones in Tuscaloosa:
"Yes, I worked out with him down there for a couple weeks until I had to start flying out. I talked to him then. I did all types of drills with him before I left."

On the conversations with Julio Jones:
"They were ball conversations, just talking ball and showing me new drills that I can use to help me when playing. He just showed me some drills and we were working out together. We were really just getting better."

On the kind of receiver he is:
"I think I'm a great route-runner. I think I get open really well. With that offense, I think Coach Steve Sarkisian is going to do a great job and I think I'm going to do very well there."

On his brief time with Coach Steve Sarkisian in Alabama:
"He was really cool. He was trying to give me that ball before he left, I knew that."
