Lionel Vital was promoted by the Falcons to the vacant director of player personnel position on Friday

He replaces David Caldwell, who was named Jacksonville’s general manager on Tuesday.

“Lionel has assisted in constructing our roster over the last five seasons and has been instrumental in our draft process and free agent acquisitions,” Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff said in a statement. “He has over 20 years of scouting experience and has had the opportunity to work under team builders like Ozzie Newsome and Bill Belichick during his career.”

Vital, a 23-year veteran, was the team’s associated director of player personnel after spending four seasons as the assistant director of player personne

Vital has work with the Cleveland Browns, Baltimore Ravens, New York Jets and New England Patriots.
